Meet the Agriware Team | 5 Questions for Joost Weerheim

Meet Joost Weerheim, Business Consultant at Mprise Agriware. What does he enjoy doing outside of work, and what is his background in horticulture?

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Spending quality time with my 10-month-old daughter Sophie. She’s such a little miracle! We’re also busy working on our new home in Oldenzaal. For physical activity, I enjoy playing padel and working out at the gym. Sanne and I love going out to eat and spending time with friends and family.

What makes the horticulture industry interesting to you?

I grew up in a horticulture family. My parents initially grew chrysanthemums and later switched to bell peppers. As a kid, I absolutely loved that time! So, it was a natural step for me to study horticulture and agribusiness in Delft. I find the combination of IT and horticulture fascinating because it’s wonderfully complex, and you can really dive deep into it.

What Agriware moment will always stay with you?

Before my time at Mprise, I worked for several years at Bunnik Plants, a fantastic potted plant company in Bleiswijk. That was truly a highlight. I was part of the implementation team on the client side. One moment I’ll never forget was when we went live with a system for more than 100 users. After working tirelessly through the weekend, we made it happen. That was a tough week, but the sense of accomplishment was incredible! 😊

What’s your favorite vacation destination?

I don’t really have one favorite; every place has its own charm. But if I had to pick, I’d say British Columbia in Canada, where I also have family living. The Rocky Mountains, Vancouver Island, and all those other amazing places there are breathtaking. But I equally enjoy relaxing vacations in Spain, like Ibiza.

What do you like to watch or listen to? (Music / movies / art / books)

My taste in music is incredibly broad. I’m also a hobby DJ, although that hobby got a bit out of hand. Before Sophie was born, I was on the road almost every month, providing music for weddings and other events. To answer the question about what I listen to: I absolutely love cinematic music. Every year, my dad and I go to a Hans Zimmer concert. That’s pure joy!
